Solder Station Protection: Introduction

Sometimes I forgot to turn off my soldering station. As this might create dangerous situations I needed a solution. This made me decide to build a timer device: to activate the soldering station a button has to be pressed. This closes a relay for a certain amount of time (30 minutes).

I have based my system on the Velleman timer kit K2579, but with some modifications. The next pages will describe the complete project.
