Quick Calendar (qcal) is a small software utility that allows you to lookup a certain date and to visualize it on a calendar control. It is a fully working desktop application that can be launched from a shortcut in the Windows start menu or on the Windows desktop. However the software was mainly designed to be executed from the Windows RUN window (accessible from Windows Start > Run, or by pressing the Win + R button simultaneously).

When launching qcal from the run window, you can supply a command line parameter so the calendar automatically jumps to the specified date. If you would want to visualize the 25th of December 1994, you can execute the program with the following command: qcal 25/12/1994. The program will then start and set the calendar to December 1994.

When you open qcal from the start menu, you can also enter commands in the textbox on top of the program. Just enter the command and press ENTER to execute the command.

Keyboard shortcut keys:

ESC: Press the ESCAPE button to close the program.
F2: Toggle between single month view and full year view.
F4: Set text focus to the command input box

Date visualization commands:

23 march 1981: Set the calendar to the 23th of March 1981.
23/03/1981 (dd/MM/yyyy): Set the calendar to the 23th of March 1981.
03/2020 (MM/yyyy): Set the calendar to month 3 of 2020.
03/20 (MM/yy): Set the calendar to month 3 of 2020. When entering a 2-digit year higher than 30, the program assumes you want to look-up a date in the previous centory (example: 40 equals 1940).
2020 (yyyy): Set the calendar to the complete year 2020.
20 (yy): Set the calendar to the complete year 2020. When entering a 2-digit year higher than 30, the program assumes you want to look-up a date in the previous centory (example: 40 equals 1940).
w20 or week20: Set the calendar to the week 20 of the current year
w20/2017 or week20/2017: Set the calendar to the week 20 of 2017
today: Set the calendar to today

Date-manipulating commands:

+20d: Jumps forward the date to 20 days in the future
-20d: Jumps backward the date to 20 days ago
+2w: Jumps forward the selected date to two weeks in the future.
-2w: Jumps backward the selected date to two weeks ago.
+2m: Jumps forward the date to 2 months in the future.
-2m: Jumps backward the date to 2 months ago.
+4y: Jumps forward the date to 2 years in the future.
+4y: Jumps backward the date to 2 years in the past.

Note: the program encodes and decodes dates according to the regional settings of your Windows installation. The examples below are demonstrating all commands in the European date-format (dd/MM/yyyy). When running the program on a computer that uses the US-regional settings this would become: M/d/yyyy.
